 More than 100 kilograms of drugs seized in eight provinces were burned.


Cambodia: More than 134 kilograms of drugs cracked down on crime in eight provinces were burned by the authorities on July 27, 2021 to celebrate the International Day Against Drugs.

The massive drug incineration was attended by General Mr. Meas Virith, Secretary General of the National Authority for Combating Drugs, Mr. Cheam Chansophoan, Chairman of the Tbong Khmum Provincial Drug Control Committee, and Mr. Huot Wutty, Attorney General of the Attorney General. Tbong Khmum Court of Appeal, with the participation of the judiciary and the chairperson-representative of the Secretariat of the 8 Provincial Drug Control Committees.

On that occasion, Mr. Long Hok Meng, Prosecutor of Tbong Khmum Court, said that more than 134 kilograms of drugs that were burned by professional officers were cracked down on crimes in 2020 in eight provinces, including Tbong Khmum. Kampong Cham, Kampong Thom, Kratie, Stung Treng, Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri and Preah Vihear provinces.

He stressed that the current drug burning is a response message and an activity that shows the general public that dangerous and dangerous drug exhibits were burned on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. Drugs on June 26 to be celebrated on July 27 due to the problem of Covid 19.

Mr. Long Hok Meng added that the large amount of drugs, if the authorities do not crack down on time, it will distract innocent people, especially young people to use illegally, cause damage to health and lead to crime. For example, murders and crimes that create insecurity in the community.

It should be noted that in the first six months of 2021, the police have cracked down on more than 3,000 drug crimes, arrested more than 7,000 suspects and seized a total of more than 850 kilograms of drugs.
