China has announced sanctions against Wilbur Ross and six other individuals in the United States.
China has announced it will retaliate against seven US citizens and entities, including former Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, in retaliation for sanctions imposed by Washington.
Beijing recently announced that sanctions would be imposed on Wilbur Ross, as well as Carolyn Bartholomew, chairman of the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission, Jonathan Stivers, former chairman of the House and Senate Committee on China, DoYun Kim. Adam Joseph King, senior program director of the International Republican Institute, and Sophie Richardson, director of Human Rights Watch in China, from the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs.
The sanctions were also announced by the Washington-based Hong Kong Democratic Council, according to a report released by the UPI on July 25, 2021.
An official from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the retaliatory sanctions would be imposed in response to the Biden administration's announcement of sanctions on seven Chinese officials.
