Found another small moon orbiting Jupiter ("Jupiter") but not officially included…
Overseas: Unofficial astronomer Kai Ly has made the discovery of a small moon that was previously unknown near Jupiter.
Jupiter currently has at least 79 official moons orbiting it, and there may be dozens or even hundreds of smaller or larger space rocks that have yet to be discovered. This giant gas planet has a powerful magnetic layer that allows it to pull space rock into its orbit, and when all the space rocks are stuck in orbit around them, they will become the moon. According to the theory.
The upper moon is part of Jupiter's Carme, which orbits in the opposite direction of the giant's orbit. The new Moon in the Carme is the largest, with an average radius of 23 km (or 46 km in diameter).
Astronomer Kai Ly made the discovery of the new small moon based on data from a 2003 study by researchers at the University of Hawaii using the CFHT telescope on Earth. He then used observational data through another telescope called Subaru.
